Hands on Caring for Family Caregivers
Presenter: Rhonda Darling, RN, CMC

Family members will learn how to give care that protects the care receiver, the caregiver and also preserves the dignity of the one receiving care. Individuals will learn about:

1. Safe Transfers from chair, bed, shower and car
2. Equipment to make care dignified and safe
3. How to give a bath, shower or bed-bath
4. Medication Safety
5. Special diets/Swallowing techniques
6. Insurance (Medicare/Long Term Care/Others)

Dementia - In the Thick of It!

Strategies for caring that work! Designed specifically for families in the thick of it! Topics to be discussed: Approaching Challenging Behaviors; Placement Options; Home Care - Why and How; and Caring for a Couple - Unique Issues that Arise. At the conclusion of the class, family members will have tools to reduce frustration and plan for the next step.
